Sunburns are very painful and everyone is instantly looking for relief when they get one. Here are 10 easy ways to help ease the pain and get you back to enjoying you summer in no time!

Tea Compress

Green tea can help soothe a burn. Simply soak a towel in cooled green tea and apply it directly to the burn.

Cold Water Soak

Soothe sunburn pain by soaking the affected area in cold water. Alternatively, you can get the same effect by using a cold compress (do not exceed 15 minutes).

Cold Milk Soak

Just like the cold water soak helps soothe your burn, so does the cold milk soak. Soak a towel in ice cold milk and apply it to the burn for 20 minutes.

Vegetables

Try gently rubbing sliced vegetables such as cucumbers or potatoes on the burn. Both vegetables contain nutrients that will help ease the pain of the burn.

Aloe

Aloe is still the number one item used for the relief of sunburns. Whether you are using over-the-counter aloe gel or getting aloe directly from the plant, make sure to apply it to the burn for quick relief.

Ibuprofen

Two ibuprofen can help ease the pain and reduce the swelling so it’s a good idea to take them when you get a sunburn.

Soak in a Vinegar Bath

Vinegar acts as an antiseptic and will cool the skin so next time you take a bath and you have a sunburn, make sure to add 2 cups of vinegar to your bath water and let the soothing begin.

Oatmeal

Applying an oatmeal infused lotion to a burn can help relieve pain and swelling.

Ditch the Makeup

If your sunburn was on your face and/or neck, it’s best to avoid makeup for a few days. This will allow your skin to breath and heal faster and better.

Wear Loose Clothing

Wearing loose, natural fibers can help avoid irritation of the burn and will help it heal faster.
