This time of year is so beautiful. The snow glistens on the rooftops and branches where the leaves once were. The earth is at rest, getting ready for a beautiful spring. Beauty is all around us and then we look at our once beautiful skin and shriek! What in the world has the winter done to our skin!? Dry skin can be a challenge that most of us face during this chilly season but with a few tips, you can curtail just how bad it gets.

Save your skin in the shower.

When you are frozen from being outside, nothing can feel better than a nice, long hot shower or a hot relaxing bath but resist the urge! Hot water does certainly feel good on our cold skin, but it removes the protective lipids from your skin’s outer layer, making your skin dry and irritated. Once that protective layer is removed, your skin won’t act as the barrier it’s meant to be. How do you avoid this conundrum? Shorten the length of your showers and lower the temperature in which you bathe. True, it won’t be as comforting and relaxing as your previous showers but it’s a must-do if you want to save your skin.

Pay special attention to your face.

It’s true that you should moisturize your entire body, but if you think about it, your face is the part of your body that will be exposed to the elements the most and will take the biggest beating. Pay special attention to the face moisturizer you use. Our Restorative Hydrating Mist is perfect for on-the-go boosts of hydration and is convenient enough to spritz throughout the day.

Moisture from top to bottom.

We mentioned moisturizing your face but even though your body will most likely be covered when you’re outside, the dry air will still dry out your skin so make sure to slather on the lotion. You may want to apply a thicker lotion on areas that tend to get dry and cracked, like your feet. It’s best to apply lotion in the morning and then again before bedtime.
