Scalp Massage

It doesn’t just feel good; it has mega hair benefits, too!

When you go to a salon and get your hair done, what’s the best part of the whole visit? The scalp massage that you get during your shampoo! It’s so relaxing and we never want it to stop, so why limit these massages just to the salon?

Scalp massages can alleviate stress and put you in a super state of relaxation, but that’s not all they are good for. When you massage the scalp, it’s providing stimulation to your hair follicles and increasing circulation. Increased circulation leads to hair growth and healthier hair overall. If the massage didn’t boost your mood, that fun fact should!

Research has proven that the health of your scalp directly correlates to the health of your hair, so a healthier scalp will give you healthier hair and provide the perfect conditions for optimal hair growth. The gentle massage assists in the removal of dead skin cells and can be extremely helpful for those people that suffer from dandruff, psoriasis, and other scalp diseases.

Prior to hopping in the shower, make sure you have everything you need at your disposal for a great scalp massage, and this starts with the right products, such as All Natural Treatment Oil, Silky Cleanse, and a scalp massager

Our All Natural Treatment Oil contains peppermint, soybean, and almond oils that work to:

  • Balance the pH of the scalp
  • Hydrate
  • Increase blood flow and healthy circulation
  • Reduce split ends
  • Revive and strengthen the hair

To use as a scalp and hair treatment, apply oil to fingertips and massage scalp vigorously. Brush or comb through hair shaft. For optimal benefits, use sparingly and let it serve as a leave-in, or leave on for 15-20 minutes. Follow this treatment with our Silky Cleanse shampoo.

For a more intense massage, you can purchase an inexpensive scalp massaging shampoo brush, like this one found on Amazon. To use, after applying a hydrating shampoo, turn on the massager and slowly move it around your entire scalp.

The Most Effective Massage Technique

The circular, stroking movements used in effleurage tend to be best for massaging the scalp. To do effleurage, place your hands in an L-shape when you are by the hairline and apply gentle pressure using a circular motion. Always start with the hairline and work your way to the nape of the neck. Once you have done the hairline, use all of your fingers while massaging the rest of your scalp.

Always pay special attention to only use your fingertips when massaging because the hair can quickly become tangled and matted if the improper technique is used. This can lead to hair breakage and even rip hairs from the follicle.

Scalp massage can put your in an ultra-state of relaxation while providing superior benefits to your hair. Try adding scalp massage into your hair routine a few times per week. The extra few minutes in the shower will yield plentiful results and when you see how healthy your hair looks and how much new hair growth you have, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start doing it sooner!
