The Wonderful Beauty Uses of Coconut Oil

Coconut oil may be the biggest beauty secret out there. It’s wonderful because it’s organic, very moisturizing, can be used for many different purposes, it smells amazing, and best of all, it’s very easy to find. No wonder people love it! Here are just a few of the great things you can do with a little coconut oil (and trust us, a little bit goes a loooooong way!).

Body Moisturizer

When you use a typical skin moisturizer that is mostly composed of water, you’ll feel moisturized at first but as soon as the water evaporates, your skin is back to feeling dry. With natural oils such as coconut oil, this doesn’t happen. So whenever your skin feels parched, break out the coconut oil and massage it in. Be careful when you first start using it because it can be messy. Coconut oil is a solid when kept at 75 degrees and below but turns to a liquid as it warms in your hands so just be ready!

Exfoliant

Skin dry and flaky? Take a dime-sized amount of coconut oil and emulsify in your hands. Apply to your face and using a wet washcloth, rub it in circles around your face. This will exfoliate and leave your skin feeling soft and moisturized.

Makeup Remover

Ran out of makeup remover and in a pinch? Apply a dab of coconut oil to your face and let it soak in. Once soaked in, simply wipe off your makeup and remove any excess oil with a clean tissue. The coconut oil will even remove waterproof mascara!

Body Scrub

In the market for a great body scrub? Why not make your own? Simply place 1 part coconut oil in a pot on low heat. Once it’s warmed, put in 2 parts brown sugar or table salt. Stir it in. Add a few drops of vanilla extract. Make sure you don’t melt all of the sugar/salt because you’ll lose the exfoliating benefits of the scrub so be sure to take the pot off of the heat after you’ve stirred for a couple of minutes.
