The Essentials of Essential Oils

Everyone is looking for smooth, silky, luxurious, healthy hair and essential oils will help you get that look! Not only are essential oils good for your hair, but they are also outstanding for your skin. We’re talking specifically about peppermint, almond, and soybean oils.

Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil has a wonderful, minty fragrance and leaves you feeling cool and refreshed. This oil contains Omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, iron, magnesium, vitamins A and C, potassium, manganese, copper, and minerals. It is hypoallergenic, so allergic reactions will not occur.

This oil has many proven benefits for skin, such as controlling excess oil from being secreted and preventing the clogging of pores, which eliminates acne outbreaks. The menthol cools your skin and at the same time works to brighten dull skin. You may also want to include peppermint oil as part of a homemade facial mask. Using the peppermint oil in the mask will help absorb excess oil and clear the skin.

Peppermint oil has been used globally as a hair treatment because it is great for all hair types. Some key benefits for using this oil as a hair treatment are:

  • Balances the pH of your scalp. If your pH rises, your scalp becomes very dry and acidic. When the oil is applied to the scalp, it hydrates, and gets rid of dandruff causing germs.
  • Control oily scalp. When applied directly to the scalp, it acts as an astringent.
  • Increases hair growth. By binding to your roots, peppermint oil increases blood flow and healthy circulation resulting in a healthy scalp and dramatic hair growth.

Almond Oil

Almond oil is another essential oil and is known as one of the best for hair and nail care. It’s packed with antioxidants, high in vitamin E, fat and protein, along with many other essential nutrients. Combined, these are a powerhouse that helps you grow strong, healthy hair.

Good for most skin types, almond oil is quickly absorbed and helps to maintain a healthy level of moisture in the skin. As it is quickly absorbed, almond oil is able to moisturize better and deeper and can also soothe inflammation and skin irritations. You may also apply a little oil under your eyes nightly and within a few weeks, say goodbye to dark under eye circles. Almond oil is also fabulous on chapped lips!

Almond oil provides many nourishing and smoothing benefits for the hair, such as:

  • Fights split ends. Massage into hair and keep hair from splitting by holding moisture in your hair for longer periods of time.
  • Conditions hair follicles. The high level of vitamin E is great for conditioning the hair.
  • Creates healthy shine. By actually smoothing the hair cuticle, you get a healthy shine and hair that’s free of frizziness, breakage, and flyaways.

Soybean Oil

Soybean oil is full of vitamins, which are a great source for antioxidants. Antioxidants assist in protecting skin cells from damage and keep the appearance of skin healthy and youthful. Soybean oil is regarded as an effective anti-wrinkle and anti-aging essential oil. One of the major skin benefits of this oil is that it is great at protecting the skin from harmful UV rays. Also, the vitamin E in soybean oil keeps the skin feeling smooth and healthy.

Soybean oil is versatile and works on all hair types. Some other benefits are:

  • Moisturizes deep. Dry hair is craving moisture and soybean oil is able to penetrate deep into the cuticle.
  • Strengthens the hair. Rich and dense with protein, soybean oil will strengthen your hair over time.
  • Revives the hair. Hair that uses soybean oil has great shine, is soft, and silky. Even on humid days, a soybean oil hair treatment would remove the excess dirt and oil and put life back into your hair.

All three of these essential oils work to revitalize and restore your skin and hair back to its glorious self.
